Review and Giveaway: Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine

August 1, 2016 by Heather Holbrook

Review and Giveaway: Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine

Today I’m super excited to bring you a look at the new Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. This machine works with emboss folders and any style of die but it’s specialty is powerful pressure. Using Contour Steel Rule Dies this machine can cut many different types of materials and thicknesses from multiple layers of cardstock to chipboard, leather, foam board, fabric, felt, acetate, plastic, metal and more in just a single pass!

Review and Giveaway: Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cut Machine

I recently put this machine to the test trying out several different types of materials to make my projects. For my first card I die cut chipboard with a layer of cardstock to cut out the embroidery hoop die and then cut fabric from the So Tweet bird and leaves die. I was really happy at how smoothly it cut the fabric, no fraying just a nice clean cut.

Next I wanted to try felt and was again thrilled with the results of how cleanly and easily the Who’s There owl was cut from felt. I also used the Plantinum 6 machine with an embossing folder and cardstock for the background of my card as well as a thin metal die for the word bubble. This versatile machine really did a great job with all the different dies, folder and materials I used on this card.

Review and Giveaway: Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine

Lastly I wanted to try something rigid so I tried shrink plastic and it also die cut perfectly in one pass! Using  the Hey Foxy fox die I cut clear and white shrink plastic, adding color to the clear with markers and then shrunk it and glued the pieces together for a cute little necklace.

So, I’m pleased to say every type of die, embossing folder and material I tried in the Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cut machine worked perfectly. If you’re into mixed media, jewelry making, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking or card making I really recommend this machine to anyone who wants to cut more then just paper. You can find more informaton about it from Spellbinders by clicking here.
