Review and Discount: Silhouette Vinyl

April 18, 2013 by Heather Holbrook

Review and Discount: Silhouette Vinyl

I love using my Silhouette Portrait die cutting machine for cool projects like vinyl decor. The vinyl cuts really easily in the Silhouette, simply cut your shape and use the pick tool to help weed out all the extra vinyl around the image. Then place a transfer sheet on top to pick up the image and then lightly burnish it to your surface. It sticks really well but will easily peel off when your ready to remove it. I made myself a couple of fun Harry Potter cut outs, Harry riding his broom for my car window using the black vinyl and a Golden Snitch for my laptop using the gold. The Harry Potter images are available to download in the Silhouette on-line store.

And right now Silhouette is offering a special deal on vinyl, bundled with either a Portrait or Cameo machine or just by itself. Follow this link and use coupon code GOSSIP to recieve the discount. Promo runs from today through the 26th.

– 1 Silhouette Portrait™ + 1 roll of black vinyl, 1 roll of white vinyl, and 1 roll of transfer paper: $139.99

– 1 Silhouette CAMEO® + 1 roll of black vinyl, 1 roll of white vinyl, and 1 roll of transfer paper: $269.99

– All premium vinyl bought outside of a machine bundle is 25 percent off with the code. Premium vinyl size is 9” by 10’. Note this is a HUGE discount, the vinyl used to cost $14.99 and now it’s only $9.99 and then you get an additional 25% off, that’s big!

What is the advantage of the Cameo over the Portrait? I realize the size of the cutting is larger with the Cameo, but are there any other differences? Thank you.
