Product Review: Whimsy Stamps

August 10, 2018 by Heather Holbrook

Product Review: Whimsy Stamps

I recently got the chance to try out some stamps from a wonderful company called Whimsy Stamps. They carry photo-polymer clear stamps, rubber on cling mount stamps, digital stamps, stencils, metal dies and pattern papers. Whimsy has many different talented artist that design their stamps so you’ll find lots of different styles to choose from with loads of different themes.

I’m a huge fan of fantasy stamps like fairies, mermaids and dragons and Whimsy has a large selection of terrific fantasy designs. For the card shown up top I used the Lets Be Mermaids clear stamp set, isn’t she sweet!? For the card background I used the Mermaid Scales stencil with Distress Oxide Inks applied with an Ink Blending Tool. The stencil measures 6″ x 5.75″ and is a smooth sturdy plastic that easily wiped clean. I stamped my mermaid and shells with Memento Black Ink and colored them with alcohol markers, mounting her with foam tape sitting on the shells. I used the same black ink to stamp the sentiment and the swimming fishes. A few tiny pearl embellishments finished it off.

One of my favorite lines from Whimsy is the Pet Sympathy / Rainbow Bridge stamps designed by Deb Davis. Sympathy cards aren’t always easy but when someone has had a loss sending a hand made card is a great way to let them know you’re thinking of them. And as a huge animal lover I found this line of stamps very heartfelt and touching. I created this next card with the Girls Best Friend clear stamp set with co-ordinating dies. I stamped some of the daisies on Kraft cardstock and colored them with colored pencils . The cute cat is also colored with colored pencils but blended with a blending solution. I then used the dies to cut the cat and small flower out. I found the thin metal cutting dies cut perfectly. To finish off my card I used some white Nuvo Crytal drops. I filmed a video tutorial for this card that you can check out on my Youtube channel or watch down below.

For my last card I used the lovely Soul Mutts clear stamp set. I made the scene with some ink blending, stenciling and die cutting for the hill and rainbow and added the girl and dog stamps colored with alcohol inks, stamping the sentiment in the corner.  I adore the girls with the big dogs and all the great sentiments in this set.

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at a few of the products available from Whimsy Stamps.
