Product Review: Penny Black Stamps

June 12, 2013 by Heather Holbrook

Product Review: Penny Black Stamps

I’ve been stamping for many, many years and one of the first companies I fell in love with all those years ago was Penny Black.  I still count them as one of my faves and continue to love their images. Through out the years they have always remained fresh and on trend with styles that range from super cute to elegant and classic. One thing I love best about their stamps is they offer them in clear, cling and wood mounted, so however you like your stamps Penny Black has got you covered.  And their designs stamp out beautifully, I tried several different types of ink and stamped on a few different surfaces with my new stamps and got perfect images each time.

I’m thrilled to introduce you to some of the newest stamps from Penny Black. This current release has several fun frames, florals, silhouettes, cute girls, animals, borders, sentiments and lots more.

I had such a great time creating with these new designs. For my first project (shown above) I used the Garden Assistant cling stamp (isn’t the little doggie too adorable?,) this stamp is just perfect for summer. I colored it with alcohol markers, layering it on pattern paper and added some flowers and leaf embellishments.

Next I used the Floral Applique cling set, it looks quilted or stitched to me so I thought it would be perfect stamped on fabric. I used a permanent ink to stamp the images onto unbleached muslin, colored them with markers and put the fabric in an embroidery hoop. I think my new wall hanging is lovely!

I used several stamps on my next card. The Artist cling stamp made me want to get out my watercolors so that’s just what I did. Coloring her with watercolor pencils on watercolor paper made me feel like a real artist myself. Behind her I put the With Flourish frame stamp and added a border on the background with one of Lace Trims clear border stamps.

Lastly I used the pretty Silhouette cling set (which also has cute animal and pretty bride stamps too) and made a wall scene, hanging my stamped photo frames from brads on wall paper made with pattern paper. I added another border from the Lace Trims set at the top. It makes me think of a Victorian living room.

I hope you enjoyed my latest project using Penny Black stamps. For more info please visit their website and their blog for lots more inspiration.
