How to Make a Floating Floral Card

April 4, 2026 by Heather Holbrook

How to Make a Floating Floral Card

How stunning is this floral card from Yana!? It appears that the flowers are actually floating, and they sort of are. To achieve this amazing look she began with a white cardstock base and the same size of folded and scored clear acetate. On the front of the card base she used layering stencils with orange, yellow and green ink pads to create the base layer. She next repeated that step on other piece of white cardstock but didn’t ink the leaves and then die cut out the flowers. She placed the acetate over the base and adhered the die cut flowers with foam tape, lining them up over the base on to the acetate and the results are fantastic with a floating effect. This unique technique can be created with lots of different stamps or stencil designs. Yana shares some helpful tips on how to hide the adhesives and how to keep the acetate in place as well as step by step how to create this card in a video over on the Simon Says Stamp blog.
