12 Ideas for Handmade Scene Cards

This darling scene card from Julie uses stamped characters that have been colored and closely fussy cut and placed over a stamped tree background. She used markers to color the background and stamps and create shading along with little die cut flowers for dimension. Take a closer look at the My Favorite Things blog.

I love making a scene, no, not throwing a tantrum but creating a scene on my cards! So, what’s a scene a card? It’s creating a little vignette with stamps or die cut images that usually has a foreground, background, focal “players” like people or animals and some dimension and that sets the scene. When designing your scene it’s easiest to think about working from back to front to layer the elements on top of each other, create the background, then adding center images and then what’s in the foreground. Today we’ll look at some amazing scene cards that use different techniques and products for some card inspiration.

Amy is the queen of scenes! Her scene cards are wonderful, with so much texture, dimension and layers. For this card she used a masking technique to layer all the different stamped images and then colored them with Copic markers, including adding texture to the rug and floral pattern on the chair. Tasha made a sweet mailbox scene with stamped mail boxes, fussy cut and placed over a stenciled cloudy sky with die cut grass. Framing a scene like she did, several times with cardstock, patterned and glitter papers, draws in the eye and creates the feeling of a framed work of art. Take a peek at the Art Impressions blog.
