10 Fall-Themed Thank You Cards and Gift Card Holders to Make

November 2, 2026 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

There’s something lovely about handing someone a thank-you card you’ve made yourself. A text message is handy, of course, but a little folded piece of cardstock with a handwritten note says you took a moment to think about them. Add autumn leaves, a golden sunflower or a tiny pumpkin, and suddenly that simple thank-you feels like a small seasonal gift.

I love fall-themed thank-you cards because the colours do half the work for you. Rust, mustard, olive green and warm brown look beautiful together, especially with cream cardstock and a little copper shimmer. It’s also a very forgiving palette for using those patterned-paper scraps we keep because they are “too nice to throw away.” You know the ones.

These handmade autumn cards are perfect for thanking a helpful neighbour, a teacher, a friend who checked in, or the person who looked after the dog while you were away. When you want to include a little treat, a handmade gift card holder turns a coffee-shop voucher into something much more personal. The gift might be practical, but the packaging can still have plenty of heart.

I’ve gathered a mix of fall thank-you card ideas and autumn gift card holders, with stamping, die cutting, colouring and clever folds to enjoy. Some are designed to hold a gift card; others are greeting cards to pair with a small present. Where a design uses a different greeting, swap in your favourite “thank you” stamp or write your message inside.

Several tutorials feature older stamp sets or papers. Treat those as inspiration for the colours and construction—you can often recreate the feel with leaf stamps, pumpkin images and autumn papers from your own stash.

Fall Gift Card Holders for a Thoughtful Thank You

Gilded Autumn Thank You Gift Card Holder

Jan’s Stamping Creations’ autumn thank-you gift card holder pairs seasonal patterned paper with copper foil and a soft mint card base. I like the softer colour combination for someone who enjoys autumn without wanting everything bright orange. The post includes cutting and scoring measurements plus a video link, making it a useful starting point for a handmade thank-you with a little treat tucked inside.

Pumpkin Spice Fun Fold Gift Card Holder

This pumpkin spice gift card holder from Klompen Stampers opens into an accordion-style arrangement with a section for the gift card. The stamped drinks and seasonal treats make it a lovely choice for a coffee-shop thank-you, and the tutorial includes measurements and a video. I’d add a small “thanks” greeting and a note inviting the recipient to enjoy a coffee on me.

Sunflower Coffee Cup Shaped Card

Lawn Fawn’s fall coffee cup shaped card combines a leafy cup with a woodgrain sleeve and a dimensional sunflower. The video uses the Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder die to create the shaped card, so it’s especially appealing if that die is already in your collection. For a thank-you gift, I’d pair the finished card with a coffee voucher and let that cheerful sunflower do the decorating.

Autumn Truck Easel Gift Card Holder

Maymay Made It’s autumn easel gift card features a little stamped truck carrying pumpkins, with an inside section that holds the gift card. There are written assembly instructions, supply measurements and a video link, which I always appreciate when trying a new fold. This one has lovely country charm and would make a sweet thank-you for a friend who deserves a coffee break.

Woodland Fall Pocket Gift Card Holder

LovenStamps’ fall pocket gift card holder brings together woodland imagery and a sleeve-style presentation. The video explains the cutting and scoring for the sleeve, which can serve as its own envelope when you’re handing the gift over in person. I’d use this earthy look for someone who loves gardens, nature walks or quieter seasonal colours, then add a stamped thank-you to suit the occasion.

Handmade Autumn Thank You Cards to Pair With a Gift

Colourful Digital Stamp Leaf Card

Kate Hadfield Designs’ fall thank-you card tutorial uses printed digital leaf and pumpkin stamps coloured in a range of autumn shades. This is a lovely option if you enjoy colouring and want to try digital stamps for your cardmaking. I like being able to resize the printed elements to suit a design, especially when making a smaller card to accompany a gift.

Elegant Stamped Leaves Thank You Card

Annette Durbin’s seasonal thank-you card uses two-step leaf stamping in olive, rust, golden yellow and deep blue, with a few golden embellishments. The coordinating stamping inside gives the card a thoughtful finish without needing lots of bulky layers. I’d choose this design for a hostess thank-you or a friend who appreciates classic botanical cards.

Layered Fall Foliage “Thankful for You” Card

Rick Adkins’ fall foliage card combines colourful die-cut leaves with an embossed panel and a bold “Thankful for You” greeting. I love this as a way to use small pieces of coloured cardstock while experimenting with texture. The post also suggests adapting the design with other dies, so you can take the idea and make it work with your own supplies.

Simple Autumn Leaves Card With Stencilling

I Teach Stamping’s simple fall card layers die-cut leaves over a label, with light stencilling behind them and a small stamped greeting. It’s an appealing choice when you want a pretty autumn thank-you without spending the whole afternoon arranging embellishments. Keep the background subtle so the leaves remain the focus, and choose a thankful sentiment for the inside.

Stitched Flower Thanks Card in Fall Colours

CraftBits’ Flower Thanks card tutorial uses layered paper flowers joined with embroidery floss, along with stamped leaves and a “Thanks” greeting. The original is pink and purple; for a fall version, I’d change the flowers to mustard and burnt orange, with olive leaves and a cream base. Those little stitched centres give the card a lovely handmade finish, especially alongside a jar of homemade treats or a small bunch of flowers.

Little Details That Make a Fall Thank You Gift Feel Personal

Choose the gift card around the person receiving it—a favourite café, a garden centre or a craft shop they love browsing. Then let the card echo that choice with a stamped cup, botanical details or colours you know they enjoy. If you’re trying another pocket design, CraftGossip’s cozy coffee gift card holder tutorial feature is worth a look too.

For a greeting card without a built-in holder, use a separate gift card envelope or add a suitably sized pocket inside. Test the fit before gluing everything down, and leave enough space for your handwritten message. A few specific words about what you appreciated will mean more than a perfectly positioned embellishment.

You might write, “Thank you for checking in when I needed it,” or “Your help made a busy week so much easier.” It doesn’t need to be a long message. Sometimes the simplest words are the ones people keep.

I’d make a few of these at once while the autumn papers are on the table. Change the sentiment, vary the leaves and tuck the finished cards away for the next time someone does something kind. It’s a satisfying little crafting session—and a good excuse to finally use that precious paper scrap.
