12 Handmade Card Ideas for St. Patrick's Day

Amy R. made a beautiful shaker card for St. Patrick’s Day with a golden horseshoe as the shaker element, filled with hole-less beads. The background has stenciled words and Shamrocks, there’s pretty die cut florals and a heat embossed sentiment too. Watch her video tutorial at the Prairie Paper and Ink blog.

Do you make cards for St. Patrick’s Day? I have a family member whose birthday is March 17th so I love to combine birthday and St. Patty’s Day for their card ever year. Plus any holiday is just a fun excuse to make cards, right? Even if you don’t have any Shamrock supplies you can use lots of green in your design, rainbow cards are perfect too and here’s a fun tip: gnomes make great Leprechauns! So let’s follow the rainbow to the pot of gold and check out some fabulous St. Patrick’s Day card ideas waiting at the end.

Crystal used different sizes of ticket dies to create small sections on her card, it’s like a lucky lottery game ticket, so clever. In each area she used ink blending and stenciling to create cute little scenes and there’s also a large die cut glittery gold LUCKY sentiment as well. I spotted her idea on the Whimsy Stamps Instagram page.

Amy K.’s card uses solid stamps for a big pot of gold filled with metallic gold stamped coins and sequins added for shimmer with Shamrocks floating away. Note the trendy arch she stamped on with a layer of gold cardstock. Find a link to her video tutorial at the Stamp with Amy K blog.

In the center she made a round die cut shaker element filled with sequins and one tiny rainbow to spot. But the best part is the stamped grumpy cat colored with Copic Marks and the funny sentiment! I think shaker cards are going to be trendy this year for St. Patrick’s Day, here’s another one, this time from Sheri. Her lovely design has die cut green Shamrocks, golden metallic lucky horseshoes and is filled with clear and gold sequins. She used a die cut rectangle with dot pattern for her shaker frame. I spotted this card on the Spellbinders Instagram page.

Sasha’s fun card uses a digital Leprechaun stamp, colored with Ohuhu markers that she cut out with her Cricut machine. She also cut out a large Shamrock and used it as a negative stencil with green ink for the background, adding some gold splatter. There’s also a printed, cut and colored “lucky” sentiment too. Here’s another great tip: use three heart shapes to create a Shamrock like Wanda did on this elegant card. The lacy shape is on layers of white cardstock, vellum paper and checked green pattern papers with a large glittery die cut title and date stamp on a tiny banner. I came across her design on The Greetery Instagram page.

Silvana has a terrific way to use lots of small stamped, she masked off a center section and then stamped them in an all over pattern for the background, coloring them in with Copics. After removing the mask she ink blended the corners with green ink and then stenciled green paste with a tiny polka dot stencil for texture and shine. Find directions at the Picket Fence blog.

Tatiana stepped away from deep greens and used lighter colors on her sweet lucky dog card. Patel inks create a rainbow of stars for the background and she used paler inks to color the stamped dog, placing him over a circle of soft vellum with a stamped and heat embossed sentiment. She used products from Newton’s Nook Designs.

If you’re short on time try using pre-printed papers and images like Annette did for this darling design. There’s several layers of pattern papers, one with a wavy edge, the other with a starburst die cut from them. The sentiment, large Shamrock and Leprechaun face are printed dies. I spotted her idea in her My Clever Creations gallery at Scrapbook.com.

Meghan’s sweet card is filled with Leprechaun faces using a large background stamp that she inked with different green inks for a nice ombre’ effect. It’s been die cut with a scalloped edge and layered on coordinating green cardstocks, one with faux stitching. There’s also a fish tail stamped and die cut banner sentiment too. I came across her idea on her Made by Meghan K Instagram page.

I hope you have the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day!
