Using Background Stamps as a Focal Point In Cardmaking

February 29, 2020 by Heather Holbrook

Background stamps are usually the quiet achievers in cardmaking – they sit behind your sentiment, add texture, and subtly tie everything together. But what if your background stamp didn’t stay in the background at all?

Jaycee takes this classic supply and completely reimagines how it can be used. Instead of simply inking up the full image and layering over the top, he turns those gorgeous Pinkfresh Studio background stamps into the star of the show. By selectively fussy cutting and die cutting sections from the stamped design, he lifts intricate florals and details right off the page, transforming them into bold, eye-catching focal points.

This clever approach stretches your stamps even further, giving you more versatility from a single design. What was once a full-sheet pattern becomes custom embellishments, layered clusters, and dimensional elements that draw the eye straight to the center of the card. It’s a fantastic reminder that sometimes the supplies we already own can do so much more than we expect – all it takes is a little creative thinking and a pair of scissors.

He’s stretched the new Pinkfresh Studio background stamps by fussy and die cutting out certain sections to bring the these images from just a background up to the foreground.
