Sketchmarker Alcohol Markers Review

Sketchmarker Alcohol Markers Review

Today I’m really excited to bring you a review of the Sketchmarker Brush Pro Markers! These markers are alcohol based and dual tipped with brush and chisel tips. (Bullet and chisel dual tips are also available). The Japanese nibs are replaceable and the markers are refillable. I chose the America set of 36 colors (which has a nice variety of colors) but Sketchmarkers come in a whopping 400 colors, one of the widest in the industry! Each set also comes in a handy black travel/storage case along with a swatch booklet to help you keep track of the colors you have.

The marker barrels are round but each cap has a notch so they won’t roll off your desk, on each cap is the name and number of the color and a grey band helps indicate which is the chisel end, it’s also good to note I found the caps snap on tightly to prevent them from drying out. I found these markers to be very easy to work with, the brush nip is soft and flexible and the chisel is firm and makes it easy to color large areas, they also have great ink flow and dry quickly with no smearing.

I colored three cards for the Holidays with my Sketchmarkers, first up is this scene of squirrels decorating a Christmas tree. I found it easy to add shading and shadowing to my stamped images. I loved using the brush tip for a flicking technique to add texture to the tree and snowy ground. I used the chisel tips to quickly and easily color in the entire background sky and ground.

For this next card I wanted to use the Sketchmarkers to color dies. Instead of cutting the separate pieces for the snowman from colored cardstock I used the markers to color his hat, carrot nose, eyes, scarf, and buttons. I also added subtle coloring to his body and the trees and ground. For the sentiment I used the markers to color a red to pink Ombre’ on the die cut letters, I loved how easily they blended for a nice gradient effect.

For this last card I wanted to really play with shading on the stamped ornament and was so happy with the results. On the owls scarf I was able to create little polka dots on the scarf with the brush marker tip.

As you can see the Sketchmarker Brush Pro Markers work wonderfully with so many different coloring techniques and I’m looking forward to continue to color with them and expand my color selection!

You can shop all the Sketchmarker products on their website  for more info and inspiration.
