Review: Water-Reactive Ink Pads from Spectrum Noir

October 29, 2019 by Heather Holbrook

Review: Water-Reactive Ink Pads from Spectrum Noir

The Water-Reactive Ink Pads from Spectrum Noir are fun inks that, you guessed it, react with water! With these slow drying dye based ink pads you can get trendy looks like distress, ink splatters, ink blending and you can even water color with them. They come in 42 colors that match the other shades in their Harmony collections and can be purchased individually or in sets of three. The sets of three come in light, medium and dark shades for a nice gradation of color.

I recently got the chance to try these inks and found there were lots of terrific techniques I could use them for. On the card shown above I stamped my images with a permanent black ink and used the Water-Reactive Ink Pads to watercolor my images. I also used them to splatter my background and to stamp my offset sentiment.

For this next card I used the ink pads for ink blending and splatter on a fun Halloween Crystal Ball Card. I colored in my images using the Tri-Blend Markers from Spectrum Noir. I filmed a video tutorial for making this card so you can take a closer look at these inks in action and you can check that out on my Youtube channel or watch below.

For my last card I used the Water-Reactive Ink Pads to watercolor my images. I also used them to create my own pattern paper by ink blending over a stencil, splattering with water and regular stamping. (Look for this card tutorial coming next week).

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at the Water-Reactive Ink Pads from Specturm Noir. They are available on-line at Crafter’s Companion, click here to purchase.
