Silhouette has released some really cool new items recently and I got the chance to try a couple of them out. One is the Washi sheets, these are semi-transparent sheets (similar to washi tape) that come in 12″ x 12″ sheets, you get three sheets with 3 patterns on each sheet in a pack and best of all they are adhesive! The colors are bright and trendy with patterns like chevrons, polka dots , clouds, stripes and more. The other new product I tried is the Stencil Material, you get a large piece of 12″ x 24″ clear self adhesive plastic with a paper backing that’s great for die cutting your own stencils. Since the material is adhesive it allows you to ink, paint and spray on top of them without worrying about it seeping under but it pulls up clean. You can store your cut stencils on the paper backing to use them again and again.
For my mermaid card I used the Stencil Material to cut out some clouds and a sponge dauber and blue stamping ink pad to sponge the cloud background. I used Washi Sheets for the waves, you can even stamp on it like I did with the words. The mermaid , clouds and waves are all silhouette die shapes.
