Review: Hello Sweetums Stamps

May 29, 2019 by Heather Holbrook

Review: Hello Sweetums

Today I am super excited to bring you a look at a newer stamp company called Hello Sweetums. I recently came across their Instagram and fell in love with their totally adorable stamps, dies and stencils. They are based in Australia but ship worldwide and if you’re in the US you can purchase online at Simon Says Stamp and Butterfly Reflections Ink. They offer clear photopolymer stamps with coordinating Teflon coated steel die sets that come “de-tabbed” so no need to cut them apart and they also offer sturdy 6″ x 6″ mylar stencils to create backgrounds on your cards.

For my cards I tried out their oh so cute set of mermaid stamps called Seas the Day with the coordinating dies and the Stargazer stencil. I love how all the images work together for fun scene building! I found the stamps stamped out perfectly and the dies cut cleanly and easily. For my first card shown above I created a fun scene inspired by The Little Mermaid during the “Under the Sea” scene, using the seaweed to create a wreath around my mermaid adding in all the sea creatures and shells swimming around. I colored my images with alcohol markers and white heat embossed my sentiment.

Did you know Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls.  In China, it is used as a symbol of bliss and joy. White Butterflies are symbols of spiritual change and personal transformation.

For my next card I wanted it to look like you were looking out of a porthole on a submarine at a mermaid swimming by and being a Beatles fan I used yellow cardstock for a Yellow Submarine. I made my porthole with 2 concentric circle dies and brads. Opening the card shows the entire underwater scene inside on an ink blended background with torn cardstock sand. I colored my images with alcohol based markers adding touches with a white gel pen.

For my last card I created a night time scene with the mermaid waving from vellum waves. I water colored the background using the Stargazer Stencil for the stars. Coloring everything with a watercolor technique and water based markers. I filmed a video tutorial for this card, click here to visit my Youtube channel to watch my tutorial video in HD or check it out down below.
