It’s never too early to start planning or even working on projects for the upcoming holiday season. Stampington and Company is here to help get you started with ideas, projects and inspiration in their new magazine, A Somerset Holiday. It’s filled with over 80 projects like ornaments, tags, cards, home decor items and more. You’ll find a recipe for fragrant ginger bread ornaments, a simple way to display your Christmas cards, an advent wreath, stamped and stenciled gift bags and boxes, a wooden block nativity scene, needle felted animal ornaments, burlap stockings, decorated glass ornaments, and loads more. All projects include photos, supplies needed and how to instructions or tips. You’ll also notice lots of different styles from rustic to elegant to whimsical with projects that take a short time to complete or more detailed projects to challenge you.
There were many projects in A Somerset Holiday that inspired me like the Perfectly Framed Ornaments by Melinda Barnett. She painted metal frames with chalk finish paint buffing off areas for a weathered look, adding vintage images and glitter inside. I followed her directions and was really pleased with my lovely new ornament.
I also loved the 10 different ideas for embellishing Kraft tags, these are perfect for adding to boxes and bags, food items, jars, hanging on wine bottles or trees branches. I made 4 tags similar to the styles in the magazine. They were fun, quick and easy to make.
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek at the new A Somerset Holiday magazine with me. You can click here and purchase it online directly from Stampington and Company or pick it up at your local book shop. Or you could win a copy!
One lucky winner will receive a copy of A Somerset Holiday, simply leave a comment below letting me know what the first holiday project you plan on working on will be. I’ll pick one winner at random, one comment per person please, US residents only. Giveaway runs from today through 10/9/2016. Good luck!

My first holiday project has already started…making my holiday greeting cards! Thanks for a great review and giveaway. Stampington & Co. have the BEST magazines.
The first holiday project I started working on is a 1:12 scale dollhouse and furniture for my 4 year old granddaughter! The furniture is built and the floors and outside walls are on the house. I can only work on it Fri-Mon when she is at her mom’s house so it is taking longer than expected! Glad I started early!!!
Very pretty! I would make the Christmas gift tags-you can never have enough gift tags!
I am already making my Christmas cards for this year and next will be working on ornaments.
I love the gift tags! They make nice ornaments on my funny little primitive tree. But someday I really want to try a needle felted animal…!
I am making fabric bags to hold Christmas cards.
First off, I LOVE me some Somerset craft mags, always get that one off the shelf & sit & look at it cover to cover at B & N, would be tickled to win this. I’m going to frame illustrated children’s songs, w/ little ephemera, tiny objects, etc. in the margins, for my 2 grown daughters. They ea. have fav. song fr. when they were little, & the lyrics lend themselves to lots of visuals. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’ve begun my holiday projects and the first one was an angel wreath for my niece’s new apartment. Thank you for entering me into the drawing.
I will be starting my holiday cards first. This new magazine would be great inspiration for more projects to make after I complete my cards! Thanks for the chance to win!
My first project will be spent making Christmas ornaments .
I have already began making Raggedy Ann/Andy dolls for my grandchildren.
I love these magazines! Such inspiration. I will first be making ornaments. Have spent so much time on Pinterest getting new ideas. I can’t wait to start!!
This is a fabulous book. All the things O need for the holidays.
I started with getting Holiday “thank you” notes done. Now on to gift tags which I love to make. I am getting ready for knee surgery and a new magazine would be perfect for me.
Ornanents
Always looking for new ornaments to make.
I have already started on trees made from sewing thread spools. they cost me nothing, and I have plenty of material and ribbon scraps to make the tree beautiful. Christmas always gets the juices flowing. Merry Christmas…
I’m Always looking for new and different ideas for holidays. This looks like a neat magazine to check out
I love crafting and expose my granddaughter every chance I get to experience the joy of creating something uniquely hers. It is a bonding experience that allows us to share fun times together. With the holidays coming up, this would be a perfect resource for us to create personalized gifts for the Season. Christmas is so commercialized; but to have a gift made especially for one that took time and thought is much more personal and treasured.
I’ve already started some holiday crafting, but plan to make some Santa and snowman figures. Thanks for this great giveaway!
I love the picture frame that is shown. This would make a perfect gift for my family reunion (we always do a craft and I have been wanting to do something with a picture of my grandparents but nothing I have seen would have been easy to do but appropriate for everyone). That is in early November so I will be on the lookout for this magazine in case I am not the lucky winner. Right now I am knitting a pillow cover for a Christmas gift and those tags would be perfect for the wrapping.
I will be painting light up snowman candleholders soon. I would love to see the new magazine for ideas and inspiration. Thanks for the great drawing and chance to win.
I have started on gift tags and would love more ideas like in this magazine. Thank you
I’m making art journal books for my daughter and daughter-in-law. I’m having such a great time making them and I know they will be treasured gifts!!
I’ve already got my major
Christmas gifts made and
sent to family. I will start
working on Christmas
cards in November.

Fabric embellished Christmas cards are waiting for beads/foiling and stitching!
Awesome magazine filled with inspirational projects! I would love to get a few special ornaments made as well as some stamped cards!
Wow, what an exciting new offering from Somerset Studios! I’m anxious to create an Advent Calendar so that would be MY first project from this magazine. Thanks so much for the chance to win, CraftGossip!
I making plan on tags for everything–the absolute finishing touch, and finishing up the very overdue gifts for my mom.
I really want to try my hand at making the paper advent calendar. I’m new to paper crafts and stamping, I enjoy so many different crafts. Now I’m working on a crocheted Santa pillow
I’d love to actually get my Christmas cards finished early this year… for a change lol!!
I’ve been crocheting snowflakes since July! People love to get them in the mail with their Christmas cards.
My first project are holiday cards. I try to have them done by Thanksgiving so I can just mail them out in December. Seems like wishful thinking this year but I’m doing my best haha!
My first holiday project will be making homemade cards for family and friends!
Oh my goodness, I don’t know where I’d begin. We are in the process of moving out-of-state, and with all the house prep for selling, and locating a new house – all my craft items are packed away. I would probably start with something very simple – gift tags. I’ve always wanted to try making them, they look easy, and you can make them as easy/fantastic/difficult as you want. And it would be something small, that I could easily hide away when prospective buyers come calling!
I would like to color my own gift tags for the holidays this year.
I love this magazine company, but I can never afford them, so this is a great chance! I have quite a list of Christmas crafts I’m planning as gifts, but I want to get on right away on one set of flower pens and a set of feather pens (with handmade flowers and feathers out of paper) for my daughters, by Saint Nicholas Day.
My first project will be holiday gift cards, love the cute cards shown here in the post!
This looks like a fantastic issue! I’m actually already working on Christmas ornaments for gifts and I have to do our cards and maybe a December Daily again this year. Thanks for the chance!
i’ll be working on tags
