Product Review: Stampin’ Up Occasions Catalog

January 3, 2018 by Heather Holbrook

Product Review: Stampin' Up Occasions Catalog

Each year Stampin’ Up adds loads of wonderful new products in the Occasions catalog as a supplement to their annual catalog. This years Occasions is filled with new stamps, dies, paper and embellishments for many different holidays and celebrations. Inside you’ll find bright and bold products for birthdays, an amazing roller coaster pop up die, cake designs for birthdays and weddings, several different style of hearts for Valentine’s Day and anniversaries, lots of great outdoor designs like picnics, rainbows, trees, birds and cute critters, there are also products for Easter, an awesome sliding barn door stamp and die set, masculine styles for Father’s Day and pretty florals for Mom and so much more!

My personal favorite in the Occasions catalog is the Myths and Magic suite. It features a stamp set, coordinating dies, pattern paper pack, washi tape and glimmer paper with wonderful magical images like a mermaid, dragon, knight, wizard and unicorn. For the card shown above I used the mermaid and one of the sayings stamps from the Magical Day set with their matching Magical Mates Framelits dies, coloring the mermaid with Stampin’ Blends markers and added some shimmer to her with the Wink of Stella pen. The bubble paper is from the Myths and Magic Designer Series Paper and is has glitter on it! On the center bubble paper I die cut the wave from the dies to slip in my mermaid and also added a layer of the Iridescent Glimmer Paper. Isn’t she lovely?

For my next card I used the adorable squirrel from the Hedgehugs stamp set, which also has several cute hedgehogs too. Setting the scene I put him on top of the tree stump holding a flower and adding some toadstools also. The background is the Woodland Impressions Embossing Folder from the annual catalog rubbed with white ink. The words are stamped on a oval from the Stitched Shaped Framelits dies. I think this set makes great masculine cards.

For this last card I used the birdhouse and flowers stamp from the Flying Home stamp set which also includes pretty birdhouses, a bird nest, birds, bees and butterflies. I colored the image with Stampin’ Blends markers and added it to a card with a window die cut from Hearth and Home Thinlits dies (from the annual catalog) adding the Cat Punch silhouette in the window.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this first look at some of the new items available in the new Stampin’ Up Occasions catalog, all the products can be viewed by clicking here. They are available from today through May 31st 2018. Check back soon for more ideas from me using these great new items!
