How to Make an Upcycled Shaker Card

How to Make an Upcycled Shaker Card

I love creating shaker cards, those fun interactive designs that have spaces for sequins, beads or anything tiny that will move and shake inside the design. It used to be we used layers of foam tape, topped with clear acetate sheets to create them (and of course you still can) but shakers have evolved. Many now are “flat shakers” with a clear pouch you can fill and incorporate much quicker and easier into your cards. Lydia has made things even easier and much less expensive by upcycling packaging for the pouch instead of buying one, how clever is that!? Many clear stamps and dies (as well as non crafting items) come in clear sleeves that can be repurposed into shaker elements.

Her sweet fox card has a blue plaid pattern paper background with die cut glittery circle opening with the shaker element, filled with sequins, inside. The cute fox was die cut and then water colored and placed over the shaker, along with a stamped sentiment on the base too.

Visit Splitcoast Stampers for a step by step and video tutorial.
