Create Faux Layers on Cards with Stencil, Stamping and Masking

June 24, 2023 by Heather Holbrook

If you love adding lots of layers to your cards but don’t like or want all the bulk and thickness try some of these fun faux layering techniques from Jennifer McGuire. These cards appear to have several layers of cardstock but they are really only one layer! But using masking techniques with Gina K. masking paper to die cut intricate frames and apply ink blending over top it gives the illusion of a couple of layers. She’s also used stenciling and stamping to add even more faux depth and dimension. And a couple of cards have openings die cut on the front to show images inside for more unique designs.

Click here to visit the Jennifer McGuire blog to watch a video tutorial and find step by step directions for all 3 cards and all the different techniques.
