When you think of crafting tools you might not immediately think of a steamer but it’s actually a really handy thing to have on hand. Since the pandemic hit I’ve had to work more on my sewing skills because I wanted to make some masks for me and my husband. Since we’re both nerds I needed to find some fabric we would both love so I picked up some cool Star Wars fabric and found a mask making tutorial. It was suggested to wash the fabric first but after I did it was a wrinkled mess and that made it hard to line up and work with so I grabbed the CHI Hand-Held steamer and it got all the wrinkles right out!
This handy steamer is travel size so it easily fits in a suitcase or purse (it even comes with a travel bag to store it in), it heats up really quickly (less than a minute!) gives 5 minutes of continuous steam, is easy to use, steams in all directions and works so well on removing wrinkles.
You can see how wrinkled it was but after just a few passes of the steamer my fabric looked great.
I even used the steam to help set the pleats in my mask and get the wrinkles out of the strings I used for ties. Here’s one of my finished masks.
I also got the idea that this steamer would probably also be great for ribbon and I was right. I have lots and lots of ribbon and much of it gets wrinkled and twisted but the CHI Steamer gave me a nice smooth ribbon again.
So if you’re a crafter, seamstress or quilter that works with fabrics this helpful handheld portable steamer would be a perfect addition to your craft room. And of course it’s terrific for getting the wrinkles out of clothes at home or while you’re traveling.
The CHI Hand-Held Steamer is available at Walmart and retails for $49.00.
We’re also giving one away to a lucky Craft Gossip reader. Leave a comment down below to be entered to win. US residents only, winner will be chosen at random, one comment per person. Giveaway ends 9/20/2020.
