Over the years The Stamper’s Sampler has included wonderful Tempting Templates in their magazines, fun patterns you can use for paper crafting projects. They’ve gathered some of their favorites into one handy guide, the brand new Book of Templates. Inside you’ll find over 50 templates and loads of samples for each to give you ideas and inspiration. There are dresses, a hat, bird house, jar, shoe, glasses, a purse, butterfly, tea cup, gloves, envelopes, mugs and even 3D shapes like a chair, house, a slice of cake, a pin wheel, slipper and many more.
Each template is a black outline on a white background so it’s clear and easy to copy. Here are just a few ways to use the templates: use a copier to print the templates onto computer paper, cardstock or acetate. You can make templates to use and keep for later use or print the image directly on your surface, like pattern paper or canvas paper. Use your scissors to cut them out. If don’t have a home printer take the magazine to a copy center or your local library. Many home printers also have scanners, so you can scan the templates and upload them to your computer so you can adjust the sizes and customize with a photo editing software. You can also use transparent papers like vellum or acetate and trace over the template with a permanent marker. And some electronic die cutting machines have a scan feature, like the Brother Scan N Cut or Pix Scan mat from Silhouette so you can have your die cutting machine cut the templates out for you.
I had a lot of fun trying a few of the templates like the tote bag, I used it to make a beach tote card. To decorate my tote I did some ink blending, added some stamps from MFT, burlap ribbon and some torn cardstock for sand. I filmed a card tutorial video for making this card as well as a quick flip through the magazine. You can click here to watch it on Youtube or check it out down below.

For my next card I used the jar template for a captured fairy card. I traced it onto cream and blue vellum and added a fairy made with a Tim Holtz Paper Doll tinted with markers and butterfly sticker wings. I added some ribbon, sequins, and a tag and mounted it on cloud pattern paper. I can think of so many uses for the jar template!
Lastly I used the pin wheel template, adjusting the size for my card. I have a cute dragon stamp from Lawn Fawn blowing on the pin wheel, with flames coming out as he blows, for a fun birthday card. I used pattern papers, a wood skewer for the stick of the pin wheel and added a button in the middle, everything is mounted on pattern paper with a ribbon accent. I love the 3D aspect of this pin wheel!
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek at the new Book of Templates, it’s available now at your local book shop or you can order it directly on line from Stampinton and Company by clicking here.
