This beautiful card has loads of layers of foiling from the background, the outline of flowers and part of the sentiment. Visit the Lea Lawson blog for a tutorial.
Foiling has been a rising trend for awhile now, it can add some wonderful shimmer and shine to your cards. There are a quite a few ways to foil, one uses a special pen and an electronic die cutting machine or there’s also a hand held tool, one way uses pre-printed designs or an adhesive ink pad, another uses plates (similar to a solid die cutting plate) and a hot plate insert that works along with a manual die cutting machine, the other uses toner to adhere the foil and uses a laminator or something similar. There are other variations but you get the general idea 🙂 No matter which way foiling works best for you it’s really fun and effective!
I’ve rounded up some of my current favorite Valentine’s Day cards (that also work for lots of other occasions too) that use foil to get you inspired to give it a try if you haven’t already.
Underneath each photo will be a link to that project, many will have detailed instruction for making them. (please note each link may contain more than one project for 17+ designs).
