With Halloween quickly approaching I thought I’d focus todays post on one of my favorite themes for Halloween and that’s Witches and Wizards. There are so many well known fictional characters like Harry Potter, the Wicked Witch of the West and Gandalf to pull inspiration from and witch and wizard cards don’t even have to be for Halloween, try using them for birthday and thinking of you cards too for anyone who loves a bit of fantasy. Let’s fly in on our broomsticks and take a look at some handmade card ideas using stamps and dies that feature Witches and Wizards.

Nicky’s card features adorable stamped critters dressed in their witch hats going Trick or Treating. She created an amazing background with ink blending, clouds die cut from vellum, a layered moon and die cut bats fluttering around. Learn more at the Hello Bluebird blog.
Meg stepped away from traditional Halloween colors using bright pink and green for her cute witch card. There’s a stenciled and stamped bat and pink plaid background with a green burst cut behind the adorable witch. She used a no-line coloring technique for amazing coloring on the stamp! Mugdha used products from Whimsy Stamps for this elegant witch card. The bold and colorful pattern paper background makes the witch die really pop. She added some white gel pen to the witch to give it more definition. I love the Nightmare Before Christmas inspired stamped quote so much! I spotted this on her mugdhagujarathi Instagram page.
Inspired by Sorcerer Mickey from Disney’s Fantasia this darling card has a stamped Micky in his iconic wizard hat and one of the brooms carrying buckets of water. I love the trendy postage stamp and blue hat background Rachel created! I came across this on the cards.byrachel Instagram page.
Jen used a Halloween text Press Plate over top of an inked green panel for the background of her enchanting witch card. If you have a stamp or die of a witches hat you can turn just about anything into a witch like Juliana did on this fun ghost card. Using Tim Holtz stamps, inks and sprays from Ranger she designed her own stenciled pumpkin background, sewing vellum over top and adding her witchy ghost and cute sentiment over top. This super fun shaker card features a candy bag with clear window to show the “candy” inside, decorated with a witch label. This wonderful Witchy slider card is inspired by Samantha from the TV show Bewitched. She’s sitting on her broom in a sparkly purple dress and can slide back and forth over the town. There’s also glow in the dark stars and window for a really dynamic card! I spotted this card from Inmaculada on the stampanniething Instagram page.
This adorable little witch is hugging her little black cat on this sweet shaker card from Lynn. She used stamps from Art Impressions with spider web pattern paper, a glittery die cut spider web and cute heat embossed sentiment. Watch her video tutorial on the Pink Whisper Designs blog.
