The 4th of July might not be an occasion that you would normally create handmade cards for but this year, here in the USA, is special because it’s our 250th year as a country! I’m seeing lots of fun new patriotic, red, white and blue card ideas and products being released to celebrate so let’s check out some inspiration and make some fun and festive cards this year for the 4th! If you’re not in the US there’s still lots of inspiration to be had here for Summer designs and big celebrations of your own country.
Jill’s darling card used a stamp and stencil combo over a dry embossed panel for a wonderful flag design at the bottom. Then there’s the cute stamped hedgehog with a flag and turtle in a hat marching across the stitched border along the top. I spotted her card at her Jill D. Hawkins Instagram page.
Jen’s got a simple way to design a flag background with two different pattern papers cut into rectangles and squares and placed behind a grid frame. In the center of the frame is a diamond with a stamped “Happy 4th” sentiment. You could make lots of this sweet card in no time. Find more info at the Newton’s Nook blog.
Elaine’s patriotic card has lovely lady liberty in her green Verdigre with a striped pattern paper background, an encouraging sentiment and a few sequins scattered around. Watch her Copic Marker coloring video at the Stampingbella blog.

You don’t need lots of patriotic supplies to make a card for the 4th of July. Melody used a wagon die and filled it with red, white and blue die cut flowers, adding a fishtail flag and some stamped sentiments on a textured and framed card base. There’s more info at the Taylored Expressions blog.
Kelly’s rustic design has a classic American barn in red and blue with a barn quilt design over the door. I love the oval shape created with zig zag and star edged dies, filled with pattern paper and a stamped Polaroid inspired sentiment.
