12 Handmade Card Ideas with Bees

12 Handmade Card Ideas with Bees

Bobbi combined stamping and die cutting for her sweet Get Well card. There’s a die cut honeycomb and some splatter for the background, die cut bees and a stamped bunch of flower colored with Copic markers. I love all the little hearts, there’s a stamped one near the sentiment, one bee is holding a heart and she also drew tiny ones on their wings. Find her directions at the Honey Bee blog.

Spring and Summer not only bring warmer weather and lots of blooms but also lots of bees  flitting around all those new flowers and plants, making this time of year perfect for creating handmade cards that feature Bees. They can be the focal point of the card or just a simple inclusion in outdoors scenes, bouquets of flowers or budding trees to add a bit of extra movement and pop of yellow color to your card designs. So let’s take a peek at some fresh new card ideas with these sweet insects.

Bibi created a trio of stunning bee cards with lavender as the primary color which works so nicely with the yellow bees! Each card is different with techniques like dry embossed or layered stenciled backgrounds, die cut bees, stamped and die cut flowers along with glittery gold cardstock for some shimmer. Gaylynn’s funny birthday card features a group of bees getting “buzzed” with a cocktail. She stamped on vellum, coloring on the back side with markers and placed the same image stamped and die cut on white behind it for a nice 3d effect. Find all the details at the Unity Stamps blog.

I love fat and fluffy bees and Melissa’s card fits that bill with a large chunky, happy bee holding a heart. Her card base is very distressed with torn washi tape, faux stitching, a tattered sentiment tab and torn notebook edges. Keeping it mostly black with just a little yellow and red really makes the bee stand out! I spotted her idea on the Melissa Goodman 75 Instagram page.

Ginger’s fabulous slimline design birthday card has a girl dressed up like a bee. The background is stamped and stenciled with open die cut letters spelling “Happy” (with the stamped girl standing in as a “P”) so that some of the background shows through. There’s more stamping for the sentiment and die cut geometric hearts scattered around. Take a closer look at the Stampingbella blog.

Christina’s bee card is so crisp and clean, created with only dies except for the heat embossed sentiment in white on black cardstock. I love the yellow, green and white color scheme with a pattern paper card base, zig zag frame, honeycomb background with die cut flowers and the large bee. Find all the info at the Pretty Pink Posh blog.

Sasha’s darling card has a puny sentiment, sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face! She used her Cricut and the print and cut feature for her large bee and sentiment, coloring the bee with Ohuhu markers and then added swirly details with colored pencils, she also stenciled and splattered the background. Find step by step directions at the Kate Hadfield blog.

Shilo’s lovely card has lots of layers and techniques. There’s dry embossing and stitching on the base, pattern paper, more sewing, scalloped trim, a large die cut XO, a 3D flower and of course the darling stamped bee colored with alcohol markers. I came across this idea on the Pajama Crafter Stamps Instagram page.

Lynda’s bee-day card features more fluffy bees enjoying birthday festivities with balloons and presents. She heat embosses the bees on watercolor paper using Zig Clean Color pens to color them in. She’s included different die cut honeycomb shapes for the background too. Find more details at the Loopyloo Cards blog.

This stunning card from Melissa has a mix of vintage and new with stamped and die cut floral sprays on either side of the die cut bee that feels old fashioned but her bold watercolor wash of colors on the background feels really modern. I came across her card on the Lily Bean Mom Instagram page.

Karin’s adorable card looks like it came right out of a story book! She die cut all of the elements coloring them with a combination of Copic Markers and ink blending and the little details of the big eyes, blushing cheeks and little freckles add so much personality to the bees. Take a closer peek at the Lawn Fawn blog.

Using pre-printed elements like die cut images and pattern papers can help you create a quick and easy cards in no time like Melissa did here. Popping up the sun and bees, adding a stitched circle and domed gems help add dimension and texture to the design. I spotted her card on the Bella Blvd Instagram page.

I hope you’ve enjoying buzzing by to check out these cards!
