The most well known icon of love is the heart. There’s no better way to let someone know you love them then by including a heart on your handmade cards. Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching so of course many cards will be filled with hearts but they also work for just about any occasion. There are so many beautiful dies, stamps, stencils and pattern papers that feature hearts, making it simple to include them in your card designs. Today let’s take a look at cards that feature this enduring symbol of love on cards for Valentine’s Day and beyond.
This lovely card has a starburst pattern die with a heart shape in the center as well as holes for stitching. The inside heart with stamped sentiment and the thread used are a pretty shade of pink over a rich burgundy background. There’s also tiny hearts and sequins for shine too. I love how the heart on this card from Jill is actually the top of the tree. The die cut tree has been colored in greens and browns with added small die cut flowers inked in pink and a sweet stamped sentiment to finish off this clean design. Take a closer look at the Penny Black blog.
Lisa’s happy card features the dynamic duo of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Dies cut from different colors of cardstock create this heartfelt scene where the two are creating a heart with their hands, Mickey’s holding a heart shaped box of chocolates, Minnie has a heart on her hat and envelope along with tiny hearts floating around. Yana’s darling design doesn’t require coloring of the stamps but there’s still lots of color with solid stamped hearts and colorful ink pads. Over top the hearts she stamped the adorable little animals who are ready for a birthday party. There’s also a stamped and heat embossed sentiment as well. Christina’s pretty card has an amazing layered background with striped pattern paper, cardstock, a stenciled word panel with die cut zig zag edges and a layer of zig zag vellum. This adorable card features a sweet raccoon stamp over top of a beautiful heart background. Rena combined two different background dies, one for the pattern and the other for the hearts that she added pink ink too. The sweet stamped sentiment finished this design perfectly. Bobbi used several different die sets of leaves, blooms and hearts to create this stunning card. After creating her hanging heart scene on a splattered panel she used a black pen to drawn the string and added stamped and die cut sentiments along with some gems for sparkle.
