Ok, I’ll admit it, I haven’t started working on my Christmas cards yet but today’s post will hopefully give me (and you) some inspiration to get started. I love creating cute cards for Christmas with sweet animals playing in the snow, jolly elves, a cheery Santa or happy snowmen. I want to design cards that put a smile on the faces of my friends and family during the holidays. So let’s jump in and check out some adorable handmade Christmas card ideas.
Oh my goodness, how cute are these little stamped mice!? Beata created a house shaped card decorated with ornaments and each window section has a different scene of mice with candy canes and a sweet sentiment. Learn more at the Mama Elephant blog.
If you’re short on time but still want to make an interesting card background try colored cardstocks with graphic shapes. Michelle used two blues and pop of bold red cardstock cut at angles to place behind her snuggly die cut penguins. A few tiny gems and a stamped sentiment finish off the design. These Jolly St. Nick cards were created with layering stencils and ink blending. There’s also stencils for creating stripes, dies to cut out Santa and stamps for sweet sentiments. I love this soft muted color scheme! These new products come from Concord and 9th.
For fans of the movie Karen created a buddy the Elf card excited to see Santa. She used white foil to letterpress snow onto blue cardstock for the background and the rest of the images and words have been die cut from colored cardstocks. Find all the details at the Hero Arts blog.
This adorable card from Amanda has a row of three stamped Holly wreaths, each with a different owl sitting inside. She’s colored her stamped images with Copic Markers and added a stamped sentiments and striped and plaid pattern papers for the background. Learn more over at the Sunny Studio blog.
Amy’s tall slimline card features a stack of darling elves created with layering stencils from Taylored Expressions. She used bold green and pale pink inks as well as added some green foiling for extra fun and shine. There’s texture too from a frame and background with die cut patterns. OMG, I think this is one of the cutest cards I’ve ever seen! These three winter pals are sledding down the hill having a blast. Dina used her own line of products from Gina K. include the darling stamp, a string of colorful lights, a dry embossed snowflake background and polka dot papers. I spotted her idea on the Gina K. Designs Instagram page.
This sweet Gingerbread Man card was made with products from Pretty Pink Posh. Rachel cut him from kraft cardstock and added inking along the edges to give him a baked look. He’s also got on a die cut Santa hat with stamped Mistletoe, rickrack frosting and he’s holding a little gift. I love the traditional touches of scalloped edges and pierced plaid behind him! For us cheese lovers here’s a hilarious card from Cassie that says “May all your days brie Merry and Bright” LOL! The little stamped cheese wedge has on a Santa hat and is holding a candy cane. Mimi combined a few die cut sets to create her adorable foxes in the snow card. She die cut the foxes from white cardstock, inking them with Distress Inks for color, I love the cute accessories they’re wearing! Caly’s sweet card has a jolly Santa with one of his Reindeer dropping off presents under a tree. She colored her stamped images with Copic Marker that coordinate with the polka dot colors on the pattern paper background. Take a closer peek at the Simon Says Stamp blog.
This fun and festive card from Nicole has the cutest stamped elves playing and peeking around the word “JOY”. Her coloring and highlights really bring them to life! And notice the large faux postage die cut edge, very trendy right now! I came across her idea on the Whimsy Stamps Instagram page.
