Somerset Memories magazine focuses on scrapbooking and preserving your photos and memories. Each issue is filled with amazing layout ideas, tutorials, project ideas and more. There are styles for vintage and modern, on the page ideas and off the page ideas like using jewelry , jars, shrine boxes, wall hangings, collages and more to preserve and display your precious memories.
The current Spring 2014 issue has over 200 ideas and includes 8 free scrapbooking papers along with tips for using your computer to get that popular chalk board look on your layouts, an altered tin for holding photos, a fabric collage house with vintage photo images, a book made from vintage gloves , photo display holders made from jars and spools and loads of scrapbook page layouts and much more!
I was particularly inspired by the photo holders and made one of my own using a vintage wooden spool. I painted it with a light wash of white acrylic pant and then wrapped a piece of pattern paper around the center. I curled some wire around in a circle and tucked the ends inside the opening in the spool. These quick and easy holders are perfect for displaying photos, hand made cards, postcards or make a bunch and use them for place card holders on a table.
