Hi Everyone:
Periodically I will be interviewing a Trailblazer in the industry..
This month I had the pleasure to interview Michele Ciola, Owner of Lunara Web Design and also Theshakerbox.com, and an avid scraper and stamper.
I asked Michele the folowing questions below, please enjoy meeting Michele as much as I have.
Favorite Card:
I love to create cards that have a little bit of flare to them. Maybe something out of the ordinary or a little twist on a new idea. I love to use stamps in my cards and I especially love to add glitter and heat embossing! Fun fun fun!
Do you use sketches when u r creating?
Yes I usually do. I like to have a jumping point at least in my head before I start. If I’m not near my scraproom then I jot my idea down in my journal. I always keep my journal with me. That way I don’t miss out on a creative thought just because I can’t write it down.
If I don’t have any of my own sketches to start with, I will either flip threw magazines or go to one of the many sketch sites so get my creativity going.
Where do you find the time to create, run the shaker kit club, then create web sites?
Sometimes I wonder the same thing myself! Since my DD started school, it has been much easier to get things done during the day. I have a list I keep by my laptop which has my to-do’s prioritized. Sometimes the list seems to grow and grow throughout the day instead of getting smaller, but I try to get at least 10 things done off the list. That way I can “try” to keep everybody happy!
What advice can you offer a beginner stamper?
Best advice would be to not be afraid of it. Get those stamps dirty!!! I was timid about using too much ink and mixing colors and stamping different colors over others. Just go for it!! Experiment with different mediums and have fun. I guarantee you will like the outcome. Be adventurous. That’s the best advice.
What is your favorite ink to use?
That’s a tough question. It really depends on the application. If I’m stamping say on vellum or transparency then I love to use Staz-on ink because it won’t go anywhere after you put it on and let it dry. Then for inking edges and more subtle work, I like to use the cat’s eye fluid chalk inks. To age items and give them an earthy feel, I like to use the Tim Holtz line from Ranger. They are also very fun to work with!
